Method Four phases of the MEDIDIET

The four phases of the MEDIDIET protein diet

Several decades of medical practice have confirmed the optimal clinical effect of a protein diet if it is divided into four consecutive phases, which every client must go through.

The classic protocol, therefore consists of four consecutive stages, each of which should last twice as long as the previous one. Below is a schematic description of the individual phases for illustration (the consultant may deviate from the stated procedure).

1. Phase

Replacing 4 real meals with 4 Medidiet® protein meals + allowed vegetables.

It consists of the complete replacement of "real" meals with MEDIDIET® instant protein dishes, while the ratio of 50:50 between salty and sweet flavors must be observed, with the obligatory consumption of permitted vegetables (some in unlimited quantities). All "sweet" foods (except the sweet flavors of MEDIDIET® Instant Protein Meals) are strictly prohibited (including fruits and non-allowed vegetables with a high carbohydrate content). To induce the so-called ketosis, the body needs to be supplied with proteins in sufficient quantity (approx. 90 g per day). The length of the first phase is determined by the consultant. It will provide you with a rapid loss of excess kilograms, while weight reduction is mainly at the expense of fat tissue (objectified by measurement on a bioimpedance scale).

So-called first-phase sticks are also represented in the selection of MEDIDIET products. These can also be used during the strict first phase.

2. Phase

Returning to one "real" protein-rich meal, i.e. 3 MEDIDIET® protein meals + allowed vegetables + 1 real food from the list.

Must follow phase 1. Your advisor may, taking into account your lifestyle or health condition, recommend starting the reduction treatment with phase 2 (ie without preceding phase 1). It is adapted individually to your lifestyle. This less demanding phase can last for a long time (many weeks or even months). It is a continuation of the protein diet from Phase 1, except that one MEDIDIET® protein meal is replaced with one "real" high-protein, low-fat main meal (for example, lean skinless poultry, lean fish, tofu, seafood). From the 2nd half of the 2nd phase, one sweet instant meal can be replaced with a MEDIDIET® protein bar*.

3. Phase

A gradual return to carbohydrates, i.e. 2 MEDIDIET® protein meals + allowed vegetables + 2 real meals, one of which already comes with a side dish/potatoes, rice, a slice of wholemeal bread, etc.

Again, it takes twice as long as Phase 2, after which it is compulsorily followed. The goal is to continue to observe a very limited intake of fats and to gradually get the client used to the gradual return of complex carbohydrates to the diet (i.e. not in the form of refined sugar, but in the form of foods that contain carbohydrates, especially so-called "starches" /potatoes, rice,…/, sweeter types of vegetables or fruits). It can take many months. 2 "real" main meals with a high protein content and the minimum possible fat content are already allowed. Its possible modification is the introduction of a "real" breakfast and one "real" main meal. We introduce side dishes and foods containing carbohydrates very carefully into the menu (e.g. 2 pieces of small potatoes with one of the two main meals OR one piece of whole grain bread per day OR 1 piece of fruit per day as dessert). At this stage, one sweet instant meal can already be replaced with any MEDIDIET® protein bar. At this stage, we also introduce REGULAR MOVEMENT into the client's weekly program (at least 2-3 times a week!).

4. Phase

A balanced diet based on new eating habits, i.e. 1 MEDIDIET® protein meal + 3 real meals + all vegetables + fruit per day.

The client is already living a healthy life. He does not overeat, he eats regularly 3-4 times a day, he does not eat at night, and he has definitively given up the consumption of worthless, toxic, or addictive substances for the organism (saturated fats, refined sugar, chemically processed foods, hard alcohol). He prefers organic food as well as whole-grain bread and does not smoke. Before putting anything in his mouth, he asks himself: Is it good for my body? This lifestyle must be pleasant for him and he must feel good about it. In the fourth phase, it is advisable to consume instant proteins only in the amount of 1-2 protein meals a day (including a bar), usually a protein breakfast and possibly an afternoon snack. If necessary, it is already possible to moderately sweeten with honey, stevia, or cane sugar.

The fourth phase is thus a de facto lifelong program for patients who have had a problem with overweight or obesity in the past.
